Telehealth

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is an innovative option to maintain therapy services while face-to-face sessions are highly restricted by NSW Health Orders or to complement existing in-person sessions. Telehealth involves the use of telecommunications (e.g. video calls, phone calls) to provide clinical services to clients, their caregivers, or other person(s) involved in their care.

How does it work?

EarlyLinks has recently decided to change platforms to Google MEET with HIPAA accreditation and encryption activated. Google Meet provides a stable connection with some wonderfully creative features (whiteboard, background, chat, and more). We also use COVIU and TALK, as second options, as they provide secure telehealth and may be more accessible from DeptEdu or other sensitive Servers.

All you need to participate in Telehealth using MEET/COVIU/TALK is an internet connection and device that can receive/send video and audio information e.g. a phone, iPad, or computer. Your therapist will provide you further details in the simple setup process and support you if needed, prior to your session, including a consent form and login details for your appointment.

Google MEET requires a FREE app to be installed when using an iPad.

Medicare and health insurance

As of March 30th Medicare Items (EPC, CarePlan, Autism Funding, Mental Health) for Occupational Therapy Telehealth sessions CAN be CLAIMED. However, rebates through Private Health cover need to be checked with individual providers.
NDIS funding can also be used with an updated service quote that states specifically that TeleHealth can be used to deliver services.
